Betija Rubene
About
She completed her studies at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Latvia, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (2023) and a Master’s degree (2025). Her Master’s thesis focused on modelling the national-scale distribution of bee species (Hymenoptera: Anthophila), during which she developed a workflow that also incorporated the correction of sampling-effort biases. This workflow was applied to two wild bee species – the pantaloon bee Dasypoda hirtipes and the scabious specialist Andrena hattorfiana. She has commenced doctoral studies.
She specializes in the study of wild bees and their ecology, particularly in forest habitats and clearcutting.
She has practical experience in the identification of wild bee species, statistical data analysis using the R environment, as well as geospatial data analysis in QGIS and ArcGIS.
She is currently actively involved in research related to wild bee species identification and biodiversity assessment.
